got the new grow going in new digs.
germinated 5 seeds of a private strain i was gifted by a good friend. it's called 'big momma' and is a cross of orange crush and master kush. the breeder / grower of the strain runs it outdoors with great results, and my understanding is that means it should be a fairly hardy strain.
previously i've only really grown / cloned in rockwool, with brief experiments in soil, perlite, and DWC. this grow is in straight coir.
right now the seedlings are in paper cups filled with fine coir. i'm feeding them with 5ml base / 10ml grow (botanicare triflex nutrients) per gallon, watering every 2-3 days at this point.
they're sitting inside a rubbermaid bin with 6x 23w 6500K CFLs and two pc fans exhausting air out through the top / pulling in through a passive intake in the side.
when they are ready, i will be transplanting to bigger square pots of coarse coir, and putting them in an ebb and flow system i've got built that looks like a stack of bins from the outside.

Looking good. They've got a bit of stretch to them, make sure to bury some of that stem when you transplant. Keep us updated, I love coco grows.

UPDATE TIME!
first, some photos from just now:
the cloner is one i built from home depot parts, minus the pump and neoprene pucks (hydro shop). entire thing cost about 60 bucks, and is a fully functioning 20 site aero cloner!
the 5 plants are now in 1 gallon containers of coir with the bottom 1" filled with hydroton for drainage. been feeding them botanicare triflex - 6ml base / 9ml bloom per gallon. watering and draining to waste daily.
one thing in the pictures i'm wondering about is the purple stems. its definitely not a nutrient deficiency, and i think it may mean purple pheno (its only on 3 of the 5 plants). feel free to chime in on that one.
right now everything is under about 200w of CFLs. coming up: better ventilation (got 188cfm going to vent into attic), transplanting the plants from 1 gallon containers to 2.5 gallon containers, hanging up the 400w HPS and throwing the girls into FLOWERING.

so the tub keeps the plants small and you just take cutting whenever you are ready to make a new plant?

So you just take a bunch of cuttings off of one of your female plants and then let each cutting develop into a mature plant?

basically yes. you have to expose a cutting to the right conditions and in a week, give or take, it will develop roots of its own and then is a new plant. there are several tutorials on this.

female or male, cuttings or clones are literally clones. they will take on the genetic material from the mother or father plant.

thanks! I must admit I keep learning more and more stuff every day here. Every time I think I figured everything out come across more helpful information. Bad news is my grow is getting delayed for a bit longer

no pictures right now, but an update:
4 clones per plant were taken, and marked, on my last post. as of last night, 4 of 5 sets were rooted. for some reason teh cuts from one plant show no roots at all yet i transplanted one set of cuts to paper cups of coir last night, and if they havent wilted when i get home today, i'll transplant the other rooted clones that are still in the cloner.
cut a 6" hole in the ceiling and stuck 6" flexible aluminum dryer duct up in there. hooked up a 6" 188cfm duct booster fan to that, sitting on a shelf close to the ceiling. passive intake is via 1" high gap beneath door and floor (equates to probably about 24-28 square inches of intake, which seems appropriate).
got 7' of chain and two screw-in metal hooks. will drill holes into the ceiling and put the hooks in for suspending the 400W HPS i'm going to flower with.
transplanting the 5 original plants to 2.5 gal pots when i hang the HPS. the clones are going to go into paper cups until they've rooted those up, and then will be transplanted or given to friends (i'll probably give away the phenos that end up being mediocre, depending on the way the buds of the first crop come out).
nute schedule is looking good, i'm thinking about trying a 33% increase overall in nutes for the big plants to see how they react, if i see burning i'll back down to 15% and work from there.
if anyone can tell me a reason why i shouldnt feed just below nute burning that would be great, intuitively it seems like a good idea.

christmas bonus came and i did the most reasonable thing
600W lumatek magnetic ballast sunsystem yield master air cooled hood (6" inlet/outlet) 6" vortex (442cfm)
should be hanging the shit up tonight and throwing them bitches into flower!
also got some canna boost, which i've heard is good for foliar feeding.

Sounds great! I know your plants will love it. I would recommend foliar feeding very lightly if at all though. I have seen it do more damage than its worth.

picture update!
the light setup - 449cfm 6" vortex sucking the hot air and pushing through the hood, venting everything out into the attic.
root porn! my diy aero cloner works MAGIC
the original 5 plants, still in their 1 gal containers.
i got the pvc parts and 110 feet of uninsulated copper wire to build a scrog trellis. will build that and start tying to it as soon as i get the girls transplanted to their new bigger pots.

wow those plants look to be doing great. I think your recent growing investments will pay for themselves. Everything looks great still
have they started to flower yet?
