I mean, I dont blame the court, its obvious the kid is being a jackass and he admits he took 53$ to the bank and exchanged it for the pennies but its still pretty funny

HA! I should try that. Today im paying $287 in court fees in Broomfield (but not NJ)!
Yea what a dumbass for saying thats what he did. Why not just say "This is what i had laying around, i figured it was a good way to get rid of it..."

Same shit happened to me over a library fine. I got arrested (yeah my town arrests you if you don't pay your fines believe it or not) and eventually won.
This guy will win, too. Legal tender is legal tender.

This will go down in history. Is that not fucked up??? They won't take change because it's hard for the judge to come by, and pocket it. Fucking assholes.

Its not really that fucked up. The kid was intentionally being an asshole. Plus I am sure someone is responsible for counting all of that pennies to verify that the full amount is paid.

Glad they had to count it.
But they were in the case from the bank. Seems like they don't have a problem trusting the bank for anything else.

I love when you can fall through the system. When I was 17 I got caught with a pipe and weed and got placed on probation and had to do some class. After court I was never contacted, it was pretty awesome.

cuz they were already saying my dui was gonna be dropped to wreckless driving cuz my bac was so low

Seriously man, call them back. If not, they may have tried the wrong number and just said fuck it... and issued a bench warrant. Next traffic ticket you might find you have a suspended license for failure to appear, and it will be a pain in the fucking ass to get straightened out. Plus, it may go from a speeding ticket or whatever to them arresting you and searching your vehicle in the process... fun.

You couldnt possibly get in more trouble for their error. If you have never been reached or served a subpoena to be in court than you have no legal obligation to be there
not saying they wouldnt issue a warrant, but simply getting a public defender would get the case thrown out.

It would have been funnier if he just showed up with a large burlap sack with a $ on it containing all the pennies and dumped them out on the desk in front of them.

i've paid $10 in pennies at a skatepark once to get me and a friend in. i had to stand to the side and count a thousand pennies  all in good fun
