question about auto-flowering genetics
    #158990 - 12/09/08 10:19 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I've been looking around and thinking about the genetics behind my hobby, and i was wondering if anybody know whether or not auto-flowering follows mendelevian genetics, such as auto-flowering plants are the rr genotype and regular plants are either RR or Rr? I was thinking about, over the course of a few growing seasons, work on a cross of an autoflowering strain with a very high THC sativa strain in the hopes of a very low crop or a very quick crop...idk is this is possible, somebody school me.

Thanks in advance

mendelian*

hmm... I know the amount of ruderalis genetics in a plant to make it autoflowering isn't that extreme as theres some decent crosses done auto style. If autoflowering plants were homozygous recessive you would have a lot of late finishers so that isn't the case.

ruderalis is garbage and only necessary if nothing else is, even the hybrids are weak.....

thats why ruderalis is considered ditch weed; but you can create good autoflowering hybrids from this type but I would say you would ahve to carefully breed

its all been tried and done you can still find ruderalis hybrid seeds, from a reputable breeder, and any ruderalis cross is going to be low quality. they started doing crosses with ruderalis in the 70's. and even with original bom landrace strains, when crossed with rude, it was just low quality. seed banks are still working with this strain, only to help polar people. there is even a ruderalis cross in one of the cannabib;es with a bad review.
