got the new grow going in new digs.
germinated 5 seeds of a private strain i was gifted by a good friend. it's called 'big momma' and is a cross of orange crush and master kush. the breeder / grower of the strain runs it outdoors with great results, and my understanding is that means it should be a fairly hardy strain.
previously i've only really grown / cloned in rockwool, with brief experiments in soil, perlite, and DWC. this grow is in straight coir.
right now the seedlings are in paper cups filled with fine coir. i'm feeding them with 5ml base / 10ml grow (botanicare triflex nutrients) per gallon, watering every 2-3 days at this point.
they're sitting inside a rubbermaid bin with 6x 23w 6500K CFLs and two pc fans exhausting air out through the top / pulling in through a passive intake in the side.
when they are ready, i will be transplanting to bigger square pots of coarse coir, and putting them in an ebb and flow system i've got built that looks like a stack of bins from the outside.

Looking good. They've got a bit of stretch to them, make sure to bury some of that stem when you transplant. Keep us updated, I love coco grows.

UPDATE TIME!
first, some photos from just now:
the cloner is one i built from home depot parts, minus the pump and neoprene pucks (hydro shop). entire thing cost about 60 bucks, and is a fully functioning 20 site aero cloner!
the 5 plants are now in 1 gallon containers of coir with the bottom 1" filled with hydroton for drainage. been feeding them botanicare triflex - 6ml base / 9ml bloom per gallon. watering and draining to waste daily.
one thing in the pictures i'm wondering about is the purple stems. its definitely not a nutrient deficiency, and i think it may mean purple pheno (its only on 3 of the 5 plants). feel free to chime in on that one.
right now everything is under about 200w of CFLs. coming up: better ventilation (got 188cfm going to vent into attic), transplanting the plants from 1 gallon containers to 2.5 gallon containers, hanging up the 400w HPS and throwing the girls into FLOWERING.

so the tub keeps the plants small and you just take cutting whenever you are ready to make a new plant?

So you just take a bunch of cuttings off of one of your female plants and then let each cutting develop into a mature plant?

basically yes. you have to expose a cutting to the right conditions and in a week, give or take, it will develop roots of its own and then is a new plant. there are several tutorials on this.

female or male, cuttings or clones are literally clones. they will take on the genetic material from the mother or father plant.

no pictures right now, but an update:
4 clones per plant were taken, and marked, on my last post. as of last night, 4 of 5 sets were rooted. for some reason teh cuts from one plant show no roots at all yet i transplanted one set of cuts to paper cups of coir last night, and if they havent wilted when i get home today, i'll transplant the other rooted clones that are still in the cloner.
cut a 6" hole in the ceiling and stuck 6" flexible aluminum dryer duct up in there. hooked up a 6" 188cfm duct booster fan to that, sitting on a shelf close to the ceiling. passive intake is via 1" high gap beneath door and floor (equates to probably about 24-28 square inches of intake, which seems appropriate).
got 7' of chain and two screw-in metal hooks. will drill holes into the ceiling and put the hooks in for suspending the 400W HPS i'm going to flower with.
transplanting the 5 original plants to 2.5 gal pots when i hang the HPS. the clones are going to go into paper cups until they've rooted those up, and then will be transplanted or given to friends (i'll probably give away the phenos that end up being mediocre, depending on the way the buds of the first crop come out).
nute schedule is looking good, i'm thinking about trying a 33% increase overall in nutes for the big plants to see how they react, if i see burning i'll back down to 15% and work from there.
if anyone can tell me a reason why i shouldnt feed just below nute burning that would be great, intuitively it seems like a good idea.

christmas bonus came and i did the most reasonable thing
600W lumatek magnetic ballast sunsystem yield master air cooled hood (6" inlet/outlet) 6" vortex (442cfm)
should be hanging the shit up tonight and throwing them bitches into flower!
also got some canna boost, which i've heard is good for foliar feeding.

Sounds great! I know your plants will love it. I would recommend foliar feeding very lightly if at all though. I have seen it do more damage than its worth.

picture update!
the light setup - 449cfm 6" vortex sucking the hot air and pushing through the hood, venting everything out into the attic.
root porn! my diy aero cloner works MAGIC
the original 5 plants, still in their 1 gal containers.
i got the pvc parts and 110 feet of uninsulated copper wire to build a scrog trellis. will build that and start tying to it as soon as i get the girls transplanted to their new bigger pots.

so after spending way too much time weaving a shiny copper scrog trellis on pvc frame, i put it in the closet and realized that theres NO way i can scrog the closet. the doorway is on the short side, and having a scrog prevents access to anything other than two plants right inside the door.
transplanted 11 clones to small pots of coir, 9 more are still in teh cloner. until my lazy ass takes care of transplanting them (more roots isnt a bad thing though!)
been keeping track of my phenos since day one, by number.
pheno 4 - eliminated from future runs- roots up SUPER slow. 2 weeks in the cloner and about as much roots as pheno 5 (the fastest rooter) had in half the time.
pheno 1 - eliminated - its the shortest of the plants
phenos 2 3 5 all root fast, 5 fastest. 5 also has the most hairs on its preflowers right now (all 5 phenos have female preflowers under 24/0). 3 and 5 both have the purpling (4 does too) so its looking like my keeper may be 5.
soon as i arrange somewhere to keep vegging stuff, im throwing the closet into flower!

the clones are doing well, most of them out of the cloner and into 4" square pots to root up. 5 will be going to friend and his gf to live under a 400w hps, where i will help them learn to grow. the rest are mine for now, for mothers to give me clones on the next grow.
the big plants are doing alright. it seems i got salt buildup problems from my feeding and not flushing methods. i flushed for 4 days with clearex, and last night fed at half my usual dose (3ml base / 4.5ml bloom). they are looking better, except two still have the ram's horn / claw leaves. everything is looking a little lighter shade of green which i guess means i've gotten rid of some of that extra nitrogen. i'm considering abandoning my custom triflex schedule and getting canna coco a/b/pk1314 just so i can eliminate trying to figure out the right nute dosage. so stressful!

clones, clones, and more clones. i switched nutrient systems to GH flora, 6ml micro / 9ml grow. this is a much more well-tested regimen and shoudl take care of the problems i was having before. still waiting for the leaves to straighten up and plants to get a more appropriate shade of green. i flushed a total of 4 days with clearex and did a mega bathtub flush yesterday. full feeding with the GH nutes today.

took all the clones i had been vegging in the cloner and dropped thm into cups/pots, and they are in a tray (record player dust cover lol) for a mini SoG on the side
moved the main plants around to get the most light to them. if anyone thinks this should be moved, i can shuffle them within reason (they're pots sitting in a big tray)
3 of these are mothers for the 3 phenos i wanna keep (all 5 are girls, but one pheno grows too slow and one pheno roots too slow). the other 5 are going to a friend and his gf to live under a 400w under my guidance.
threw the timer on the closet! the lights just shut off and flowering begins!!! anyone know how long i should expect these to flower? its a master kush x orange crush cross so i'm gonna guesstimate 9 weeks, does that sound about right? i set the fan to go off at the same time as the light, since they dont need fresh air during the night anyway (right?).
the magic is beginning!!!!

Plants do indeed need fresh air at night. Your plants are looking fantastic, no need to risk it by turning the fan off. I don't know if you are carbon scrubbing this area yet but if you shut off your fan, your carbon scrubber becomes useless risking smell leaking to places it shouldn't.

FACK i pulled a retarded one. called the sex wrong. turns out i have 3 males 2 females.
5 and 4 are the females, which pisses me off because 4 roots up REALLY SLOW. but 5 was my favorite plant the whole time so thats good.
new plans: the clones in solo cups are a mixed bag of the phenos, so i'm gonna throw together a male isolation chamber (clear storage bin with pc fans venting it, and hepa filters on the fans) and put the small clones in there to pollinate openly. the big males will be chopped down i would keep them to collect pollen for later, but its just too much of a risk ....that i wont catch them in time with how big the plants are, and will end up with seedy buds and pollen in the closet.
so now the race begins, 4 and 5 have been moved to dead center under the light, going to train out their side shoots a little more and try and maximize their exposure.
i just heard that i may get my hands on at least 1 super silver haze clone (which is actually from me originally) so the strain list expands!
Big Momma - 2 females in flowering, 3 males getting chopped, bunch of clones going into a plant orgy isolation chamber, 2 females vegging for later use as mothers, 7 cuts of the females just popped into teh cloner
Sour Diesel - 10 cuts in the cloner, just starting to show root bumps
Super Silver Haze - coming soon maybe!
???? - may pick up a pack of seeds, still feeling really undecisive on that. considering: durban poison (sensi or dutch passion), C99 x Blueberry (joey weed), blue apollo (joey weed), and i dunno what else. so many things to choose1

lady number 4 out in the open
the roots in coco are CRAZY (this is from one of the chopped down males)
more roots!
upside down hamper with 3x 26w 6400k CFLs, vegging future mother, a clone of plant 5.
mother in training
checkin in on the clone bin, 10 sour diesel cuts in hte middle, 1 cut of plant 5 (big momma), 4 cuts of plant 4 (big momma)
looking into my hepa filtered seed making box - male and female big mommas on the same flowering schedule as the big ladies
wider view of the seed making box

more update info:
i added 9ml/gal cannazyme - eats up dead roots, freeing up space for the good ones!, also added 10ml/gal canna boost - supposed to be good shit. also going to begin twice weekly foliar feeding 10ml/gal solution of canna boost, an hour before my lights come on
current daily nutrient regimen for the big flowering ladies (this is all for 1 gallon) 6ml gh flora micro 9ml gh flora bloom 9ml canna cannazyme 10ml canna boost pH down to 5.8pH
you may notice i reinstalled a part of the closet shelves to sorta half assed scrog the back plant (number 5). i also put 4 female clones into beer pong cups and have them laying on their sides so the plants hang out into some of the unused space under the light. i dont expect much off em but it will still look neat.
building another cloner same as my current aero cloner, this one will be 25 site. may add 5-10 sites to the old one too. i'm thinking of a SoG for the next crop and by my estimates i got like 6 weeks to prep things to be thrown into the next flower cycle.

H3AD = Very Successful formula, I personally enjoy starting out with Lucas @ 15 10 5 ml/gallon of veg, micro and bloom. Then switching over to H3AD for flowering and ditching the FloraGro bottle.
I hear only good things from Cannazyme, let me know how it works.
I've only used hygrozyme for my dead roots, and sparingly!
Well, I guess I'll pull up a chair and watch the show!
Cuz this shit's takin off!

i'm not sure how to measure teh success of cannazyme, or boost, but i'm hoping they're working their magic.
i started h3ad's formula shortly before flowering, but lucas sounds like an idea to try for veg. i do need to decide how to feed the clone that i have in dwc, for now its on the same 6/9 nutes and i figure thats ok since the rootball got moved with its coco (was in a solo cup), but i will need to probably adjust as the roots start shooting into the water.....
will post more pics when i get something better than my phone to use, but let me tell ya, the buds are popping up EVERYWHERE
i also have 4 females in solo cups sitting around in the room, plus another 3 females in solo cups that i pollinated.
the sour D cuts are still looking sad, no new root growth.....per advice given to me today, i'm going to drop an aquarium heater in there to bring temps up a little and see if that helps.

That is quite the forest you have! I love the dissecting scope in the background of the first pic.

i chopped the purple pheno plant today, left the few lower branches with popcorn buds still going and will deal with them later. manicured the rest the stuff i did chop, and have it hanging in the closet to dry. froze the sugar leaf trim, and currently have it in bubble bags settling! the buds weighed out to 11 ounces wet, and if given that and the photos anyone wants to guess the dry bud weight (11oz is with the stems) after i cut them from the stems that'd be great :-) got a marble sized ball of scissorhash waiting for me after i finish with these bubble bags. enough talk, picture time!

If we guess the dry weight do we win the buds? LOL jk. Going by the pic of the bed I'm guesstimating 4.6 oz.
How does it taste? I'm drooling on my keys...
