Origins of 'Marijuana' nomenclature
    #151707 - 11/26/08 10:28 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I've heard a few things about where the term marijuana originated.  Can anyone provide a reliable source for this information.  I did some research a while back and the results were inconclusive.  Did the word marijuana come from the prohibition days as a term used to associate cannabis with mexican's in order to further scare the public?

You understand the history of marijuana prohibition right?  Lol.  That's exactly what happened.  Those damn mexicans and those jazz musicians of the south.  Yanks couldn't handle it too well.

Yes, Harry J. Anslinger...It was always called cannabis until that asshole got ahold of it.

Watch the videos I uploaded to youtube from the History Channel. It's like 1 hour, but it does an excellent job of explaining the history.
