Good morning comrades.
-------------------- "If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution - then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise." - Aldous Huxley

It was just a very divisive election with a lot of passion from both sides of the fence.
The bottom line for this thread though, is that the DOWJ dropped 750+ points for a week straight just a little while ago. The economy is having a hard time right now, and Obama is clearly not the cause, cause this shit's been dropping since last december.

I understand you're trying to say the markets dropped because of Obama's election. The results of the campaigns did happen to correspond with this drop, but there is far more going into the stock prices than just that news.

then you are a complete embarrassment to your institute. The economy has been complete shit for the past 8 years. To give it any correlation with the election is complete ignorance and probably some deep-seeded racism
I think it would have tanked even worse if McCain was elected

actually my black finance professor, tells us daily how bad obama's tax plan is for our economy. guess he's an embarrassment too?? anyways thanks.

first let me get this out of the way: i am not racist in the slightest. why are you making this a race issue?
now onto the markets:
Quote:
Major indexes have lost about 10 percent since Barack Obama was elected president -- a vote preceded by a steep rally -- and the losses represent the Dow's worst two-day percentage decline since the October 1987 crash.
what is ignorant, is that you believe a presidential election will have no effect on the markets. it does have an effect, especially a president that plans to 'spread the wealth' and 'tax the rich more'. do you think the rich (aka big businesses) are happy about this? obama is the most socialist democrat that has ever won an election, to deny any effect on the markets is completely and undeniably ignorant.
to what effect is up to speculation and is completely opinion.
however:
Quote:
NEW YORK, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Wall Street hardly delivered a rousing welcome to President-elect Barack Obama on Wednesday, dropping by the largest margin on record for a day following a U.S. presidential contest.
maybe you are right, maybe it is in fact a coincidence and the biggest drop in history since 1987 just happened to come when the country found out who its next president would be. to me it is clear.
i am not blaming obama. it is how the investors are reacting to the information they are given. that's how markets work. take a basic finance course. stock prices reflect all available information and expected future cash flows.

KillerPicklez said: I think it would have tanked even worse if McCain was elected
which is a valid opinion, and i disagree. so far i've posted 2 or 3 legitimate articles that agree with me (at least in the fact that there is a correlation), and i've sourced them in my previous posts. where are your sources? can you back anything up that you said with anything? i backed up everything i said with information.
but i guess since i simply disagree with your opinion you decide to make this a race issue and claim that i am an embarrassment to my institute. open your mind. i'll respect your opinions if you respect mine.

but the best and most hilarious part of your argument... i didn't once mention obama in any of my above posts (except my very last one).
all i have simply done is post links? yet i am a racist. i guess the mass media is racist as well?? re-read the fucking thread.
