Using alcohol on spider mites!

i know the idea sounds stupid, but i was googling some spider mite solutions and a few sites mentioned diluted rubbing alcohol....so i mixed some up (about 20%) and sprayed one leaf and the soil (i dont have spider mites, but i have another pest...i also bought a new plant that has a few spider mites, so figured i should nip it in the ass and keep it away).
their theory was weak alcohol would not harm the leaves and evap fast (it does evap fast, so i figured maybe they are on to something).
long story short, half the leaves are dead 2 days later.
Dont use alcohol on plants lol....shoulda known better.

it wasnt evaporated it was absorbed by the leaves. isopropyl alcohol is not good, i think you used too high of a diloution as well 20% is very high.
spider mites are always a problem you will probably have to scrub the whole op, sanitize the room, wait a few weeks sanitize again then start up.
they are such a nuisance stuck in the soil, stuck in the plant, resistant to cold and heat and drought, and there is nothing you can really use that will prevent them from coming back without being a systemic pesticide which coul potentially mess with your smoke. LOL

palmolive, biodegradeable soap mixed in water is good. worked for me, had two sessions a week apart to kill the ones left over. Didnt have them again also stuff like tobasco sauce + water + garlic + lemon juice is a good deterrent for pests and harmless to the plant wouldnt suggest during flowering, that is just sponging them off asap, hopefully have the problem contained before flowering basically.

palm olive is phosphorous based/non biodegradable me thinks.
tobacco tea is good for pest control
neem oil is good for prevention too

i used to use tobacco tea (from home grown rustica), but i dropped the whole thing for fear of TMV...even though i grew the plants...can still get it and spread it before you know.
anyone know if TMV ever affects pot?

Ok, there is a product called -Avid- it's what is called a Trans laminar which means that the pesticide or miticide which is what this is stays in one spot. So spray a leaf and it stays in that leaf for 46 days. Had spider mites one time. Used avid one time not even the repeat uses the directions said to use. Been three years since haven't seen a mite in the garden.

strange. what %?
Thanks magash, i know of avid but where i live things like this are not sold and hard to import, so I'm a little stuck with whats around, and most pesticides here are not what i would want around my smoke i used Avid when i was in canada, and i have to agree, shit works well and definite.
