 seeds molded while trying to germ them!

i put my seeds on a moist paper towel and put them in a zip lock bag and sealed it, put it in a dark place at about 70 degrees 3 days later i came back and the seeds had white fuz mold growing on them! wtf i've done this same exact method atleast a dozen times and that has never happened. anyone no whats up?

the seeds are rather old, bagseed from over a year ago. but i don't get why that would make them mold? they're well over a year old the weed still get me high tho...

A year isn't that old. May be that there was a touch of mold in the bud that was still on the seeds. Kind of the only thing I can think of other then the seeds being dead.

i'll try soaking them in a cup of water for a day or 2 and if they don't sprout they're probably dead i'll just order some dank seeds offline. thx

k i tried doing the cup of water method, waited 3 days and looked. no germ the water was getting cloudy and some seeds started to mold again. is it safe to assume these seeds were dead?
