i was in a MVA
i was the passenger, a friend was driving
hit a big tree going ~80mph
it was an 80's model ford pickup, huge truck and tires
the block came thru the dash into the cab and fucked both of us up
they completely rebuilt my left knee
couldn't walk for a few months, but eventually got it during physical therapy

yeah he made it, he got the worst of it
he told me when he opened his eyes, his foot was right up against his face
he almost lost a leg, they fixed him up tho and he's got two steel rods, one in his thigh and the other from the knee down

I busted my leg and the winter would really fuck with it. I actually live in the coldest high population city in the world so it was pretty brutal... not as brutal as your situation
