well, i found some trees growing wild and, unfortunately, all are producing seed (i guess no smoking yet). But i managed to take roughly 100 seeds a few days ago. Today i started germinating about 30 of them. with a little hope and some luck, perhaps I'll get a decent plant out of it. since the season isn't quite over, I'll be able to harvest more seeds here shortly. I will keep this updated with pictures when the germination actually starts.

It was definitely wild though it may have started as someones garden. The plants look like they haven't been taken care of all summer but they were grouped together in a field not more than 150 yards from an apartment i was staying at. I know to expect some seeds in the wild but this is almost all seed. another thing i found when breaking the clusters apart is that they were infested with larvae of some sort. In my opinion, it's not too appealing to smoke insects.

Forgetting about hash-making for a second, have these seeds successfully germinated yet? You said you are attempting to germinate thirty seeds - what kind of set-up do you have for all of those? I've read conflicting information about needing to let the seeds cure for a few weeks before they can germinate; some have said its necessary, where I've read other people say that they have actually found seeds that started germinating while they were still on the female plant. I mention this in case you don't have any luck with germination. What color are the seeds?
How have you determined that these plants aren't just hemp, that they will produce a good amount of THC for you to enjoy? It'll definitely be interesting to find out if they work out for you. We found some seeds of a land-race sativa that we'll try out sometime later to see if it has any potential for good bud and having a place in breeding.

none have germinated yet. It may just be hemp but it was very sticky to touch. I just put them in a stack of moist paper towels and put them in a bag in a cabinet.

I'd recommend letting the rest of your seeds cure for a month or two before you try to germinate again. Otherwise, you could always pre-pop them.

I have the rest of my seeds sitting in a pill bottle with some silica gel. Hopefully they will germ.

Well, the wild seeds i tried didn't germinate. Some of the bag seeds i tried have started though. I'm just a little curious but it looks like some of my bag seeds are starting to grow fungus on them. It looks like they're getting fuzzy all around them. Anyone know what this may be?

Could be mold. Mold can grow in the same environment as seeds (moist, no air movement, moist, warm, moist ). So I say plant them in some cups and if you lose a few....eh. Toss the dirt back into your pile.

Two of the wild seeds finally popped. I hadn't checked for a couple of days and one was completely out of the seed casing. I was unable to take pictures but will post them shortly along with my half-assed reflector that i made.
