I tried something different with one of my plants, instead of having 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 verm. It has about 7/10 of perlite, 1/10 worm cast, 1/10 verm, 1/10 peat moss. And the plant in the mostly perlite mix is growing outstanding. Not too much faster, but noticably faster, and very dark and healthy looking. Maybe this is because peat messes with the ph a little and perlite just hold the adjusted water? IDK, but I will sure be using more perlite in my mixtures in the future, for more tests.

Plants will always grow better in a well draining soil then one that holds lots of water.

Well there's a trade off between well drained and zero water retention. I personally don't wanna water my plants ever 3 hours.

Yeah, but a soil that drains so much that there isn't any water retention isn't really a "well-draining soil", now is it?

I beg to differ. It's the MOST well-drained soil (have at thee semantics)! Draining and retention in my mind are very opposite things .

Ive been watering it once every two or three days with the rest of them, its one of the healthiest ones, and very vigorous.
