Easy kids, here are some facts: Low temperature delays germination High temperature disrupts germination Optimum temperature (according to Cervantes) is 78F (25C).
Environmental factors do not influence sex until the seedling has three pairs of true leaves. After that, these factors tend to produce more females: high nitrogen, low potassium, more blue light than red, lower temps, higher humidity and lower durations of light (14 hrs?) coupled with a lack of stress.
just me, it seems that genetics determine sex in the seed and sprouting phase, which you can't do much about.

Magash said: Actually what has been proven by the seed companies is that it appears that the growth of a male or female plant from seed, except for the predisposition in the gender chromosomes, also depends on various environmental factors. The environmental factors that influence gender are: 1. a higher nitrogen concentration will give more females. 2. a higher potassium concentration will give more males. 3. a higher humidity will give more females. 4. a lower temperature will give more females. 5. more blue light will give more females. 6. Fewer hours of light will give more females. It is important to start these changes at the three-pairs-of-leaves stage and continue for two or three weeks, before reverting to standard conditions.
lolzers, quit copying me magash
