When growing indoors, do you have to grow them in the refrigerator? i have read that it takes cold weather in the soil to germinate the seeds. I'd really like to just use the jiffy peat pellets to grow them up & then transplant to a big long bed I have my T5 lights & then switch to HPS when flowering.
Had anyone tried switching plain ol' 2400/3200K flouro's on the poppies? I have heard mixed results, and on poppies.org some people don't get the spectrum effect.
I had received some papavera somniferum seeds as a gift & would like to cultivate them myself as I suffer from chronic knee pain but I reside in a very hot & humid climate. and outdoor is not possible for me really as I'll be busy with MJ outside.

at the price of seeds I would rather buy seeds & keep trying ROFL
everything i've read says the pH is preferred closer to NEUTRAL where as MJ needs acidic. I think im gonna jump into it head first lol, i see to germinate you leave'em in your crisper (bottom drawer of refrigerator usually used for beer... ) and leave'em for a week & remove and they should sprout under light, according to some online things ive seen.
that book is out of print and worth like $130

they like germinating around 60F a little warmer, or colder is fine and they like it to get hotter after germination, but still can handle cold temps.

I do know that store bought poppy seed is an opium poppy variety. I've taken them off the shelf and sprinkled them on soil and they grew for me. I've never had any luck getting them out of the seedling stage (albeit I've never given it an go either).
Here's a link to the growery.org mother site, shroomery.org. The link is aptly titled "Poppies - from Poppy seed to opium. I'm surprised I had to be the one to deliver this. Oh well, I imagine stranger things have happened:)

And if that link wets your appetite for destruction, this one should QUENCH it!!!! Mwu ha ha ha ha ha!!! (Not related to poppy but related to a lot of things you might find of interest)_
