Quick question. I was watching a video on hydroponic systems and it was talking about how much the roots benefit from the increased amounts of oxygen and everything. A thought occurred - would it work to take a fish aquarium air pump and run some tubes into the bottom of a soil or soilless pot to increase the amount of oxygen in the soil? I have a feeling there is a reason why this wouldn't work but I thought I might as well ask a stupid question.

ya roots need oxygen to break down sugars (cellular respiration) just like we do, only they make their own sugars through photosynthesis first
i would be worried that an air stone in a pot might dry out the soil a bit much. a nice fluffy soil is usually aerated enough as it is and doesn't need additional air exchange.
by soilless do u mean perlite/verm/coco etc?

I was just referring to a pot with some medium that isn't soil, like coco and perlite or something. It might not have been the right terminology.
Yeah, it sounds like it isn't necessary then and that it might be counter-productive. I figured that if it would work, people would already be using it, but thought I'd ask anyways.
