What is the difference between heroin and the natural occuring morphine that is in poppy pods? Is there really much of a difference? If there is a difference and someone knows please explain. I'm simply curious not interested in doing heroin ever in my life.

heroin = diacetylmorphine
it's made from morphine and more potent. and also more addictive I'm guessing?

heroin crosses the blood brain barrier faster, creating a rush when you slam it... Its more addictive and more euphoric than morphine because of this.... its the uber-opiate

Heroin is easily made by boiling morphine solutions (or opium) with acetic anhydride. This produces an acetylated form of morphine that is much more potent than morphine in all its properties . The enhanced effects are probably due to its increased solubility and more efficient transfer to the brain, where heroin is converted back to morphine.
