I consider it to be a definitely possibility, not scientifically but experientially. Just by witnessing the radical shift in consciousnesses that psilocybin brings about, I believe that it could have aided in the development of that animal's awareness, a quality that will be passed to its offspring.

how would that be passed down genetically? isn't that a trait that has to be learned?

Not necessarily. Think of the way that animals perceive their surroundings: Perhaps an iguana sees the world as blue and red, an indicator of heat, an important part of an iguana's survival. Do you believe the iguana or a fly sees the world as we see it? Because evolution has allowed for all animals to be equipped to survive in their environment, our perceptions are unique to the characteristics needed to survive.
Therefore, I believe that just as animals have developed different consciousnesses and perceptions, it is completely possible for a primate to consume psilocybin and alter these perceptions for the benefit of the species.

Are you saying that psilocybin's effects could have acted on a genetic level, passing down a new sense of awareness to offspring?
sorry i'm not really understanding, explain what you mean.

Although my knowledge of genetics is very minimal (I only have a knowledge of Mendelian genetics), I believe as in all science, we pretend we know more than we really do. I believe there is a lot that we don't know about genetics.
It's not proof for my little theory, but I just wanted to point it out.

although it wouldn't act on a genetic level, any psychological "realizations," observations or perceptions, could be shared with others. this would provide alternate perspectives on pretty much anything, which = greater awareness and higher intelligence.
lol, i dunno, i gotta watch the vids

It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded." - Abraham Lincoln

I'd say among any species, gained knowledge has to be shared with others in order to evolve and progress as a species..... maybe it's more easily shared with less developed species than humans? Like a sort of invisible internet connecting the thoughts of all the members of a species, so if one gains knowledge, they all grow as a whole.....
Or maybe I'm just too sober.

Rogan is probably my favorite public personality that endorses psychedelics. At least he's got the intelligence to be able to translate this stuff in to somewhat lament terms for these people to understand.
I haven't disagreed with anything he's said in his psychedelic influenced ramblings yet. I hope he keeps going.

Rogan just spits out shit. Anyone could do it. It's good that he uses his position in the public eye to speak on these things, but he's no different than most of the people on the Shroomery when it comes to him as a person.
