i'm a first-timer. i grew from seed and am unsure about the gender of one plant. there are clearly developed female preflowers over the majority of the plant, but i'm not sure about some of the preflowers on the mainstem nodes (second photo). are these just calyxes that haven't developed pistils yet, or are these on their way to becoming pollen sacs?

This thread was moved from Soil Cultivation.
Reason: Moving this to the main cultivation forum, as the Soil Cultivation sub-forum is intended for discussing topics specifically pertaining to soil.

Whats the genetics so we can tell if it has a genetic tendency to hermi? Doesn't look like balls to me just wait till you are absolutely sure before you kill it, no rush.
Light leaks are the most common cause of hermis but any kind of plant stress can cause it to hermi.

looks to me like a flower that hasn't grown pistils yet. it's still really small as a calyx too.

thanks for the input. I'm new here and appreciate the help. also, i have rooted cuttings now. can i put them in the flowering room for 12 hrs under a HPS and then put them elsewhere under a compact flourescent for 6 hrs? or should i just give them 18 hrs under the CFL until generation 1 is harvested and then veg them under a MH? (i only have one 400 watt fixture, but i have a convertible ballast)

If you don't mind moving them around you can do that. I've done it before. Don't see why you cant. Just take em out before the light goes off so you don't have to interrupt your flowering plants night cycle. I'd just do it every once an I while when I did it cause I was lazy. I was flowering under 1kw, vegging under 400. Now I veg under the 1kw and flower under the 400's.
