aren't geltabs or glass planes made by like making a mold of a gelatin mixture?

The way I've seen it done, they take small sheets of gelatin and soak it into the LSD solution, like blotter paper.
However, the gel tabs are thicker so they absorb more, and hold it better.
Also, since the gel used is very dark, it's more resistant to light.
