Brief description of marijuana as medicine, by johnnyblaze2316.
Cannabis contains many cannabinoid profiles that have a broad spectrum
of use in the treatment and relief of diseases and ailments ranging
from cancer to headaches. Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes
for over 4,000 years. in the united states medical cannabis or cannabis
in general remains illegal under federal law, although currently their
are 15 states which allow medicinal cannabis on the state level. this
has caused tension and hardships on the medicinal cannabis community in
the form of harrassment, cannabis club raids and persecution of
personal cultivators. the 15 states which allow and regulate medicinal
cannabis are Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine,
Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont,
and Washington , A bill currently in the New Jersey senate would
legalize medical use of marijuana and is expected to pass. cannabis was
listed in the unites states pharmacopia until 1942. the united states
government denies any claim that cannabis is theraputic, yet there are
seven patients recieving medicinal cannabis from the federal government
through the Compassionate Investigational New Drug program, which is no
longer accepting applications as of 1991. The federal food and drug
administration has approved several synthetic medications which include
marinol and cesamet. althoug these are legal and can be prescribed by a
mainstream doctor, patient reviews are less than flattering and side
effects are common. canada released a cannabis extract which is sprayed
under the tongue and this seems more promising compared to synthetics.
the scientific information for cannabis is just not there like it is
for other medications but that is quickly changing. For more
