 Common Abbreviations
HID, HPS, MH? Here's a quick run down of what these acronyms actually mean.
HID:
High Intensity Discharge
- A group of lamps consisting of mercury vapour, metal halide, high pressure sodium, and low pressure sodium lamps.
- HPS: High Pressure Sodium (the most common and effective light available for flowering the marijuana plant).
- MH: Metal Halide (often used for the vegetative state of marijuana growth).
- Flouro: Flourescent (a less intense but cool light source that can be used for very small grows and especially for seedlings & cuttings).
