will my plant grow back if i leave a few inches of steam above soil after i cut to harvest?

hello im just wondering if anyone knows anything about this subject? my buddy told me that if i cut my plant a few inches about the soil to leave a few inches of steam when i havest the rest of the plant the few inches of stem will grow back to a full plant? can anyone tell me if this is fact or fiction?? lol thanks for your imput my freinds at the growery!!!

I'm no scientist but I'm pretty sure that wont work at all.
It would be like cutting you off at the ankles and expecting you to regrow the rest.
That being said, there are ways to harvest and not kill off the plant, but I don't know enough to give you any advice on that sorry. Have a look around the search function of the site, its full of good info

just think of it as reversal of cloning. instead of waiting for roots to grow, you are waiting for new shoots. i did an experament with a spare little unhealthy'er plant and i cut all the growth off except the top two leaves. it took about 3 weeks to show new growth starting to form.

ok thanks alot for the info!! i searched around the site but didnt find much on the subject but maybe i just wasnt wording it right but ill try a few things and thru trail and error and the good ppl of the growery im sure i'll do something i like lol : ) thanks again

It depends on if you left a node. If you cut it below the bottom node, then the plant cannot grow back. If there is still a node on it and it is not given a 12+ hour dark cycle it should revert to vegging and grow a branch out the node in 4-6 weeks.
